Camp Pupukea - Island of OahuThis former Military training area is the largest and busiest Boy Scout activity center in the Pacific. It's summer camp program plays host to Troops from throughout Hawaii and the Mainland U.S. It is used year-round for camping, training and other various activities. Pupukea was renovated in 1993-94 as the result of a fund raising drive. The Hawaii community responded generously to the drive conducted by the Aloha Council with the aid and support of such notables as Maurice J. Sullivan and the Weinberg Foundation. The facility now has a large dining hall, a modern kitchen, quartermaster building, rifle and archery range and indeed everything to bring it up to the highest standard of a B.S.A. camp. Camp Pupukea has eleven Troop campsites with water, latrines and conveniently located showers. Camp Pupukea is available during the off season (non-Summer Camp weeks) for use by BSA Members, registered units conducting day activities and overnight camps in accordance with the Outdoor Program Policies and Guidelines of The Boy Scouts of America. It is also available for our Charter Organizations and other non-scout groups whose aims and objectives are not in conflict with those of The Boy Scouts of America.Call the service center to inquire about using our facilities for your scout campouts during the off season. On the North Shore - Waimea Falls, Sunset Beach and the Banzai Pipeline are all close by. Visiting Hawaii and attending Boy Scout resident summer camp can be a memorable adventure for mainland Scouts and leaders. Visiting troops may prefer to take advantage of an extended program plan. Use the camp as a home base and spend the extra days enjoying the beach and touring Oahu. Some troops visit the neighbor islands while enroute to and from the camp.
In addition to an outstanding traditional Boy Scout resident camp. Camp Pupukea offers out-of-council troops the opportunity to participate in a special program we call Hawaiiana. Scouts and leaders may earn Aloha Council's Hawaiiana Award by completing requirements that include learning Hawaiian games, dances, plants, and language, along with visiting historical sites and landmarks, writing a report on Hawaiiana, and cooking Hawaiian foods.
